These steps are critical and required before you attempt access to any services.  If you have not setup your new account, you must complete these steps ASAP.


Use these steps to set your password and link your mobile phone for secure access to your new Microsoft 365 account.



Phase 1: Install the Authenticator App

  1. Install App: Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile phone from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

Phase 2: Access MFA Setup

  1. Open Private Browser: Right-click your preferred internet browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) and select to open a Private, Incognito, or InPrivate window.

  2. Go to Office: In the private browser, go to office.com.

  3. Sign In: Sign in with your new email address and the temporary password provided to you.

  4. Start Setup: When prompted for additional security verification, click Next and then Next again. A QR code will display on your computer screen.

Phase 3: Link Your Phone

  1. Add Account: Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile phone.

  2. Scan Code: Tap + (Add Account) >> Work or School Account >> Scan QR Code.

  3. Scan and Approve: Point your phone camera at the QR code on your computer screen. Once scanned, approve the notification that appears on your phone to confirm the link.

Phase 4: Verify and Complete

  1. Verify: After approving the notification on your phone, click Next in your computer browser.

  2. Complete: Click Done. Your account is now active with MFA enabled.

Phase 5: Reset Your Password

  1. Go to Account Settings: While still logged into office.com, click your profile picture (top right) >> My Account >>  Security & Privacy >> Password.

  2. Set New Password:

    • Enter your current (temporary) password.

    • Enter your new secure password twice. (Note: You may use the same password you used previously.)

  3. Submit: Click Submit.


Your new account is now secured and ready for use to access new Tenant resources.
